Untitled
If I remember correctly, it was a happy day. Or maybe I was in love. Sitting with a young woman— another naïve painter like myself—we drew each other’s portraits, and even collaborated on a picture. We also talked about clowns, so I showed her this painting. We joked, ‘Is he holding a paint palette?’ It seems the light shining from the mosque’s windows so near him, make it look like a palette! I’m someone who likes stories with happy endings. All I can safely say is the clown was happy (the story is finished). I also noticed the pleasing way yellow harmonizes with orange. Our Boatman’s vessel is often orange—I think because orange shouts, ‘Here I am!’ Is this painting also shouting, ‘Notice me!’?
