about the FOUNDERs

Taken in an Indian restaurant in Kadıköy, Istanbul, this photo encapsulates my fascination with things cross-cultural. The image of a Rajasthani man was painted by a young Indonesian artist living in Istanbul.

ARTWITHOUTBOUNDARIES.ART is a very personal project born from “connecting the dots” of a life that often seemed a bit disconnected to me. I have a degree in anthropology (explaining my fascination with other cultures). Established and sold a successful New York-based travel marketing agency. Studied art history in Los Angeles. Then embarked on a new life focused on art. Tina was a graphic designer at my agency, and we quickly became friends. Like me, she’s a full-of-ideas perfectionist. So it was a no-brainer we’d become partners in establishing this virtual, non-commercial art adventure.

Although I can’t imagine living anywhere but New York, I love discovering new things about places and people, including my two sons. My life’s goal is to live without boundaries. (Here I am in Rangarping Eystra, Iceland.)

Great ideas fuel me, ever since I began my career in advertising and graphic design at a major New York agency. I’m in awe of how an idea can affect not just the way one looks at things, but also the way one feels. So when Walter described his unique vision for AWB, my immediate response was, “I’m in!” I believe in opening new doors and exploring new ways of seeing, both professionally and personally. You can just as easily find me in my design studio as you can in my garden, in the kitchen making my famous loukoumades, practicing yoga and qi gong.
