Cotton-Candy Sky

At some point, the Boatman ceased to be merely a stroke of paint upon canvas. He became a living soul, an inseparable self-reflection. As I sat with this piece, I found myself wandering into his normally romantic soul, wondering how it might shift under a sky painted pink. Though burdened with preconceived notions, pink to me is simply the most childlike color—pure, innocent, and unpretentious. Colors impose their own secret geometry over the soul; and as above, so below. The earth and the sky are forever mirrored in one another. Through this quiet dialogue, I poured that same subtle reflection into the Boatman’s mood. This cotton-candy sky may be a subtle transfer from my own heart to his. Perhaps he found a moment to step away from his usual melancholy into a childlike utopia.
