WE NEVER LEFT, Artists of Southeast Indian Tribes

Ever since I was a kid, “American Indians” fascinated me. But like most non-Native Americans, I wasn’t really aware of America’s shameful history. Focusing on artists from tribes that evaded forced removal from their homelands in the 1830s, “We Never Left” illuminates part of that history. Opening in January 2019 at the Museum of Arts & Sciences in Daytona Beach, Florida, it traveled to Pennsylvania State University, and the Collier County Museum in Naples, Florida. I’m grateful to Cambridge University’s Dr. Jane Dinwoodie for her scholarly input, and Athena Longoria for designing this beautiful catalog.
