THE +1 MUSE
What if a group of accomplished young men and women with one extra chromosome had met the likes of Renaissance masters da Vinci, Rembrandt, and Botticelli? Mostly likely the result would have been these powerful portraits. “The +1 Muse” is part of the “Art & Us” social awareness project conceived by IZEV, a ground breaking Istanbul-based foundation that provides transformative educational and vocational support to individuals with mental differences such as Down syndrome, and their families. The inspiring models include members of Fark Band, a musical group composed of “different (fark in Turkish) individuals,” and Turkey’s first “+1” stage actors.
